Chiropractors practise a manual approach, providing diagnosis, treatment and preventive care for disorders related to the spine, pelvis, nervous system and joints. Chiropractors use a combination of treatments, all of which are predicated on the specific needs of the individual patient. After taking a complete history and diagnosing a patient, a chiropractor can develop and carry out a comprehensive treatment/management plan, recommend therapeutic exercise and other non-invasive therapies, and provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counselling.

Dr. Megan Boucher, ND is a board-certified Naturopathic Doctor in good standing with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario. She completed the four-year Doctor of Naturopathy degree program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in Toronto after obtaining her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at The University of Western Ontario.

Megan’s journey with Naturopathic Medicine began long before becoming a student at CCNM. She has been a patient of a Naturopathic Doctor since early childhood and has experienced first-hand the powerful impact Naturopathic Medicine can have on prevention and management of illness. After working for a number of years as a Pharmacist Assistant and not seeing the health of her customers improving, she knew that was not what she was meant to do. The path to becoming a Naturopathic Doctor was an obvious one.

Megan focuses on evidence-based medicine and uses a combination of dietary and lifestyle strategies with targeted supplements, herbs, acupuncture, and physical medicine. She has a passion for supporting women’s hormones, fertility, thyroid conditions, prenatal care, and children’s health.

Alexandria is a Nurse Practitioner, licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario and trained in Functional Medicine with a deep commitment to helping individuals uncover the root causes of their health challenges and achieve balance through personalized, evidence-based integrative care.

Her journey into functional medicine was inspired by her own health struggles. Despite leading a healthy lifestyle and receiving “normal” results from conventional tests, she experienced burnout, chronic fatigue, and other symptoms that primary healthcare couldn’t fully address. Through functional medicine, she discovered the power of understanding the body as an interconnected system and using advanced testing to identify underlying imbalances.

Since starting her training in functional medicine in 2017, Alexandria has focused on guiding patients toward clarity, balance, and long-term wellness by addressing the root causes of their symptoms. She combines evidence-based strategies with a holistic approach to empower individuals to take charge of their health.

Her mission is to collaborate with patients to achieve optimal health by looking at the whole person and uncovering the connections that support healing and vitality.

Here’s a clear way to articulate the difference between a nurse practitioner delivering functional medicine care versus primary care in Ontario:

Short summary:

The distinction is that patients understand that while primary care meets basic healthcare needs, functional medicine provides an enhanced, tailored experience designed to optimize overall health and well-being. Although medications and some labs and imaging testing used can be similar to primary care, when appropriate as part of the plan. These medications and lab/imaging tests are covered by OHIP similarly to when ordered in primary care, however the NP service is not covered by OHIP. My role as a functional medicine NP is to help address root causes and some symptom management however my role is not to follow chronic diseases long term the way a primary care provider does.

More detail if needed:

Primary Care

Primary care is guided by standardized clinical guidelines to address symptoms, conditions, or diseases with evidence-based interventions. The focus is often on disease management and ensuring timely access to healthcare.

Functional Medicine

Functional medicine is a personalized, patient-centered approach that aims to identify and address the root causes of illness. When delivered by a nurse practitioner, this approach:

• Emphasizes understanding the whole person, including their genetics, lifestyle, environment, and emotional health.

• Explores the interconnectedness of the body’s systems to determine underlying imbalances that contribute to symptoms or chronic conditions.

• Focuses on preventing illness by supporting the body’s natural healing processes, often using nutrition, stress management, and lifestyle optimization.

• Includes advanced testing for markers of inflammation, nutrient deficiencies, gut health, and other systemic factors that may not be part of traditional testing in primary care.

Rather than solely treating symptoms, functional medicine aims to restore optimal function, which can lead to lasting improvements in health and well-being.

Functional Medicine NP is Unique by:

  1. Approach:

• Primary care focuses on symptom management and treatment of disease using standardized protocols.

• Functional medicine is more holistic, addressing the root cause of illness to promote long-term health.

  1. Time and Depth:

• Primary care appointments are often shorter and focus on immediate health needs.

• Functional medicine appointments are longer, diving deeply into your health history, lifestyle, and goals.

I became a therapist because I was a client. I tell you this because I saw firsthand how the power of counselling and psychotherapy changed me, my relationship with myself and others. I had struggled with anxiety and depression. You would not have been able to tell from looking at me. I smiled and seemed confident on the outside but on the inside, I couldn’t stand being in my own skin. I needed a change, a new life and I created it.

Counselling and Psychotherapy helped me to find the strength I knew I always had, a new appreciation for the intelligence of my emotions, and the ability to support myself or ask for support when needed. I developed a passion for counselling and psychotherapy because I saw what became possible within me and wanted to provide that for others.

Even though I was moving up in the corporate world I decided to pursue this new adventure. I attended the Transformational Arts College and was certified as a Spiritual Psychotherapist and then attended the Gestalt Institute of Toronto and became a Gestalt Psychotherapist. I opened my private practice when I completed my first program. I juggled my practice, school, my corporate job and being a mom and a wife. After I had my second child, I finished my second program, left my corporate career as an Operations Manager in Supply Chain and Logistics and opened my practice full time.

This journey, coupled with my experiences as a graduate of the University of Waterloo, allowed me to discover what is possible when we know what we want, has given me insight into what we are capable of with self-awareness and deepened my understanding of how to face the challenges that can get in our way.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I am a member of The Ontario Mental Health Professionals Association and President of the Board of the Gestalt Institute of Toronto.

We all need a reliable, comfortable, and non-judgmental space to work through our struggles. Whether it’s your anxiety, feeling stuck, or something else, I can help.

Welcome! I’m Haley Veronyak, a qualifying registered psychotherapist looking to help you with the challenges of life.

My passion to become a therapist started when I saw loved ones get stuck in the hardships of life. Then I got stuck. At my lowest, I wasn’t sure what I needed, but I knew that what I wanted, wasn’t where I was.

I have first-hand experience of the value of taking the time to work on yourself and figure out your emotions to achieve the life you want. Therapy works with you to figure out what you need to achieve your goals. I provide the space for you to feel your true emotions, discuss your struggles and find solutions together.

I am currently supervised by Natalie Haynes (BA, RP, OACCPP, CAPT). My main clientele is adults struggling with anxiety, depression, personal and professional stress, relationship issues, and negative thoughts, behaviours, and beliefs.

My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable, safe, and without judgment. Pour some tea, grab a snack, and make yourself at home.

When you’re ready, I’m here.

We all need a reliable, comfortable, and non-judgmental space to work through our struggles. Whet... Read More
